2.4 Installing on Unix

CloudTran was developed on a Windows environment. However it has been installed and tested successfully using the following environment

  • Ubuntu 9.0.4
  • Eclipse 3.6.2 (Helios, latest service release)
  • GigaSpaces 8.0.2
The installation procedure for Unix should be the same as for Windows. The user will have to set up the appropriate preferences for Eclipse using the CloudTran preference page.

Note that Unix style directories should be used. Alternatively the Browse button can be used which should ensure the correct directory structure will be used.

Shell scripts are generated to perform various tasks in Unix. The generated scripts are for the Bourne shell, to make the Unix generation as generic as possible. Should you encounter any scripting problems when running CloudTran in a Unix environment please use the CloudTran forum to report them.
