2.1 Installing the Plugin

CloudTran is distributed as an Eclipse plugin. The simplest way to install it is to point the Eclipse update page to the CloudTran update site and let it handle the installation.

You must use a Modelling Tools edition of Eclipse to run CloudTran; it does not install on the regular Java edition of Eclipse.

See the prerequisites for more information

  1. Fire up Eclipse.
  2. To point Eclipse at the CloudTran update site, select Help / Install new software:
  3. Click the Add button and enter 'cloudtran' and 'http://www.cloudtran.com/downloads/site' for the new site.
Note that this FTP site is available for direct download as well - you can then hold the download locally, which may be useful if multiple developers are using CloudTran. (To do this you will have to download the whole 'site' directory, and specify that directory to the Eclipse update mechanism.)
  4. Click the 'Uncategorized' box and click 'Next'.
  5. The current version of CloudTran is shown.
The version numbers will obviously change as different versions of the plugin are released. Click 'Next'.
  6. Accept the license and press finish:
  7. Twiddle your thumbs:
  8. You will get a notification that the driver is not signed. Hit OK.
  9. When the download and install are complete, you will be presented with this screen:
This means that the CloudTran is successfully installed. Click Yes to restart Eclipse.
  10. The installed feature (in the eclipse installation's "features" directory) is
    	- com.cloudtran.feature_x.y.z

The following plugins are installed (in the eclipse/plugins/ directory) as directories, om:
    	- com.cloudtran.builder_x.y.z/
    	- com.cloudtran.help_x.y.z/
    	- GigaspacesEcoreEMF_x.y.z/
    	- GigaspacesEcoreEMF.edit_x.y.z/
    	- GigaspacesEcoreEMF.editor_x.y.z/
    	- GigaspacesEcoreEMF.tests_x.y.z/
